We say it every year, don’t we? “How did the year slip by so quickly?” And, indeed, it has done so, or has it? In actual terms the same amount of time has elapsed – the same amount of time elapses every year – so is it really about time, or really about us? I think we all know it is really about us, and the sheer pace of our lives that we now think is normal. But, compared to just a few years ago, it seems to me that life is much more hectic because of the choice...

Why I believe in the resurrection of Jesus the Christ #5

The seventh reason I believe on the resurrection of Jesus is because the New Testament witnesses do not bear the stamp of fraudsters or deceivers. How do you credit a witness? How do you decide whether to believe a person’s testimony? The decision to give credence to a person’s testimony is not the same as completing a mathematical equation. And the enemies of Jesus confirmed it by claiming that the disciples had stolen the body (Matthew 28:13). The dead body of Jesus could not be found. There are four possible ways to account for this.

(1) His enemies stole the body. If they did (and they never claimed ...

Why I believe in the resurrection of Jesus the Christ #1

Easter has just passed us by for another year – it seemed so rushed somehow, and a whole lot of things I wanted to say and preach, I never got the chance to do. Just after Easter on the ABC’s Q & A program, some of the panel including former foreign minister, Bob Carr, were making claims about what they thought of Jesus – Carr loudly proclaimed that he did not believe Jesus rose from the dead, as did several others. They didn’t think such a thing was possible but, ...
